Life Updates - Stress and Sadness

I know I promised to post every other week and I've been falling behind. With good reason - I've had exams because it's finals week at school. Also, on a more personal level I had to say my last goodbye to my grandfather this week. His health hasn't been great and last night it took a turn for the worst. I know right now I don't have a huge following but I wanted to share. 

I use my blog for a variety of things, and a diary is one of those things. as this is a big thing happening in my life I wanted something to document this

I am leaving 'MURICA

*Summary of Video*

If you are wondering where my popteen magazine scans are... well, they arent coming, and probably wont be for quite  a while. I am leaving in 5 days to go study abroad! 

I am leaving on the 22nd for a week of vacation and then 4 and a half months of school in Florence Italy :)

Now you might know from my previous blog entries that i had applied to this study abroad program before but didnt get accepted. Well last school semester i decided to reapply and i got in this time! but... FUCK! im so nervous now > <

Initially i wasnt too nervous or excited, but as its SO CLOSE NOW im freaking out... nearly started crying at the dinner table 

I have never done anything like this before, i have no clue how to be independent - hell, i dont even know how to do laundry...  

The longest i've been away from home is 10 days for a camp

Hopefully during my time abroad i can blog/vlog a lot. i really want to try and document my time and journey because i feel like this experience will really change me (i dont know why i just FEEL it in my bones) Hopefully i can also travel around to different parts of Europe while I'm there as well. 

I really want to go back to Paris, and check out London

Does anyone have some good advice for me? or studied abroad before? or wants to? comment!

My Resolutions:

Hello my darling readers! So it's been a while since i've made a real blog post, a lot of it is circle lens and popteen.  I didn't make this blog with that intention i want there to be more of my content.

The video above says everything but I will also summarize the video.

With the new year i discovered that I'm going to be turning twenty and i don't really feel like I've accomplished anything, nothing i can put my name too at least. So, i created 5 new years resolutions for myself: 

1. Post more quality on the internet with my blog and youtube but not be on facebook as much

2. Write down in a journal everyday, this that i was thankful for + smaller goals like good grades and things.

3. I want to have better initiative and follow through. I never want to regret NOT doing something

4. Tyical- HEALTH. I want to eat less sugar and fried foods and drink more water

5. Better with my money! I am SUPER good at spending my money but more and more i realize that I haven't been very responsible with it.

SO: Have you made any new years resolutions? or general life goals? comment below :) also, I'd really appreciate it if you could check out the video i made (above) i put a lot of hard work into it and i feel like you will probably get a better idea of my personality.

STUDYING ABROAD... AGAIN

Hey cupcakes! 

So, I wanted to keep this under wraps till i heard back from the program but....

I APPLIED TO A STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM THROUGH NYU TO FLORENCE! 

From January 29 till May 17th i will be in Florence studying! I heard back from them on Wednesday morning. I was busy with school studying.

I originally applied for the Paris program BUT it was full, so i switched my application to Florence. I actually applied to the Florence Program during the summer to go for a full year but got rejected. SO NOW IM GOING!

I'm SO excited for a new experience and new friends and just.. a change from my day to day. I've been feeling so restless lately (why i bleached my hair so much a month ago). I really hope i can grow as a person and learn a new language during this time abroad.

I realized after this i will be able to speak, with varying degrees of comptency:

-English

-Norwegian

-Japanese

-French

-Italian

Hopefully it will look good on an application because my GPA is just average xD 

I have no clue what this will mean for my blog during this time but im excited for the future :D

Sick Sick Sick + BIRTHDAYYY

Lately I've been SUPPPER busy with school, and this is also why I havent been updating my blog as much  im not just lazy. 

This is my first time in 3 years that I've been a full time student with different classes. I am taking

-Mass Media and Society

-Biological Oceanography

-Music Appreciation

-French

And, the past couple weeks i had projects and tests in ALL of them.

Midterm in Mass Media + Final Project Proposal

Bio. Ocean was a 12 minute presentation on shark migration

A french dialogue that i wasnt allowed to make a script for

AND

I applied to a study abroad program.. Waiting to hear back is torture xD

 I was living on 3 shots of espresso a day and 4-6 hours of sleep. NO ONE LIKES A SLEEP DEPRIVED, CAFFEINATED, STRESSED STUDENT. I am definitely NOT used to dealing with this much school. 

Anyways there is a dorm that is used by most students at my school, and everyone got sick there. Because of my weakened immune system i caught the cold too :( 

It feels like half my school is sick right now...

I haven't really had the mental capacity to update lately with everything going on

But I do have some stuff (food post) to share :) i just need to get around to uploading the photos. 

ALSO! ON NOVEMBER 5TH IM TURNING 19 

I know that it will be a week of celebration, mostly because of celebrating with different parts of the family. Maybe I'll even do a birthday giveaway... ;)

November Popteen Scans though, are going up either tonight or tomorrow!

Small Update + BRB

Hey guys! So just a quick little thing, 

About a month ago I signed up for a website (bloggers). Its a sign up basis and free and it helps categorize and sort your blog and help when people are searching.

Well I was featured as the Editors Pick of the Day! Awesome MAX! Didnt expect it at all! Especially because I've only been signed up for a month or so. Now people are adding me like crazy. ON THERE.. Also, I got way more congrats than page views.. but WHATEVER..

To be honest I'm very grateful I just found this observation quite funny.

In other news: BRB! Till May 15th. School finals and I  want to make sure I pass my classes! I'm not doing as well as I'd like in Math (80%) and so I'm going to really settle down and focus. 

I will still try and make some posts but they will be less diligent.. And probably more pure text and ranting.. at odd hours.. cramming math homework into my brain. 

ALSO: I'm still debating going to Japan this summer. I REALLY want to go but my parents are looking into it and it seems there is till a lot of radiation. It will either be temporary effects and leaves my body within 2 weeks... OR ATTACKS MY WHOLE SYSTEM AND THEN I GET CANCER WHEN IM 40.

Math Teacher VS Math Students

I, like many people deal with the evils of math on a regular basis. I used to HATE math with the burning passion of a thousand stars, but I actually discovered I don't hate math... I HATE MATH TEACHERS!!

I feel like there is a certain type of person who is attracted to teaching math, the i-know-what-im-doing-but-i-cant-teach-it kind of person. Granted there are a few exceptions, for example I had one math teacher who was RIDICULOUSLY amazing. He could make up equations on the spot, stayed completely on schedule, and made us have fun and engaged. Im pretty sure EVERYONE in his class passed with at LEAST a C.

This brings me to my current math teach her. I LOATHE HER! She has no interest in the class, it is a part time job for her, while she also teaches at a private Christian school - Oh yeah, during our test she decided the best choice of literature was the Bible. Unfortunately because of a bad High School experiences I'm quite adverse to religion, especially anything relating back to the Bible. 

This teacher, Mrs. B, is unable to properly teach us anything, only vomit back up what the book says. Whats the point of being in class!? its the EXACT same in the book, and even then she still is making mistakes. She also talks in a monotone the whole time, and she always says, "and what is the 11th commandment...? Thou shall not divide by zero" 

People might think I'm exaggerating or being extremely critical just because I don't appreciate her bringing religion in or what not, but no. I'm not. The first test we took there were 4 A's and 12 F's, just to give a spread. I actually got a 95% on that test and I was stoked! But, I couldn't help but think, "12 F's?.. That's quite a lot..."

So when we started on the next chapter, I'll admit I slacked off a bit, like leaving at the break. But because she ISN'T a good teacher i thought, well whatever right? One kid (technically adult.. but your at community college.. in my opinion anyone who's attends and doesn't have a degree is a kid) actually got up in the middle of class and left while muttering, "I could teach myself better than this" So on March 8th we took our second test. I spent the whole night before and day of CRAMMING. And so when I got the test and looked down i was like..

I KNEW NOTHING!! People were finishing so fast I thought, "I must really not be getting it or they didn't get it either" So I turned in as much as I could and left. I got back the test today (March 20th) and I bombed, but I knew I had bombed.. 57% F. So I asked, what was the spread of grades? One A. One. and that was through extra credit, otherwise it would have been a B. Between two classes there was ONE A. The rest were two B's 3 C's 5 D's and 15 F's. 

So now my question is, is this a reflection of the students or teacher? I know I did slack off but i also know the people who didn't and attended everyday who got a B on their first test and got an F on this test. Also, what about reading the Bible during a test? She didn't read it aloud but is it appropriate? I hate this teacher but at the same time i know i won't always have great teachers and that's something I've got to learn to work with, but COME ON LADY! TEACH ME ALREADY! I'M WAITING!

Summer Plans, School In Japan?

So, I applied for a Summer School in Japan. It's a 6 week intensive language class and I'm SUPER NERVOUS! I hear back from the program in April and till that point I will be on edge. 

Previously I've taken 2  years of Japanese, One high school, one college- which puts me at the equivalent of Japanese 4 High school roughly... but It's been about 3 years since my last class and I thought I remembered a lot of it but the last chapters of my book I'm like

BUT I'M SO ANXIOUS! I really really want to be a part of this program, but I'm sure many other people do too!.. probably more qualified people too.. So it makes me think, how will I stick out?... no point stressing about it now though I suppose, applications already in right?

Also the line up for the summer is stressful. RIGHT after school gets out I'm flying out to Colorado for my cousins wedding for a week, then I'm coming home for a few days then flying out to Europe where I will be driving around for a month with my family.. the longest driving time is 8 hours. 8 HOURS!! then come home for 5 days, then Japan. MY BODY IS GOING TO BE SO OFF! Colorado is +1, Europe is +9 then Japan is +15...

Well hopefully it will go well, and in but I don't want to get my hopes up, just in case...Happy studying guys, going back to school this week

What Have I Been Doing This Past Year..?

So, Ive been kind of neglecting this Blog a lot, so here is a master post of what Ive been doing, 

May 2011: PROM! I had such a nice time and was nominated for Senior Prom Queen. But I Didn't win.. again.. second year of loosing... /sob

I had to get ready for it in like.. 15 minutes because i had been out all day setting up prom and driving stuff back and forth. And here i was running late so super stressed!

I also Tried out during this time for Miyake Wong's Contest.. AND FAILED MISERABLY. Only a few of my friends voted for me,

I dont know who won, but she was probably super cute, and I'm just jealous.

And then I went to a Cancer Charity, hosted by Family friends. It was to raise funds to help women going through chemotherapy.  The Family lost their mom/wife to breast cancer so they want to help other who are struggling. So nice.

They brought in African Animals because the Dad and daughter went to climb Kilimanjaro Mountain and people could sponsor them per foot

 The whole time it just relaxed and slept. Kind of disappointing but still cute and VERY soft

June 2011: GRADUATION! I graduated from my small independent studies high school. I had a bad time in high school till I went there. I made some AMAZING friends during the 2 and a half years I was there.

July 2011: Me and my Friends went to Anime Expo! So much fun, we went July 1st and 2nd. We managed to fit 5 people into one room with 2 queen beds. Daniel and Wesley shared a bed and Lizzie, Sammy and I shared one. Lizzie was sick and kept yelling at everyone because she was so tired. Sammy kept singing out of tune, Daniel didnt sleep much, Wesley night cuddled Daniel, and my 4 friends dealt with my skin care and makeup routine.. Such good friends.
Also During July I finally got fed up with looking so.. Heavy? Chubby? Bloated? so i started drinking more water, snacking less, and eating more healthy!

These two girls were in the prep area but i was like OH DEAR GOD! TOO GOOD! so i asked begged for a photo and they obliged!

This was the second Day of Anime Expo and we were just coming from a very nutritious meal and ran into these folks! I felt like the Japanese mom shoving everyone in a picture! It was kind of cool though soon we had a small Group of people taking photos but the Howls Group had to go!

At the time i had no clue who the fuck he was, just that he was beautiful and a good cosplayer! We kind of chased him down and then when he saw us pulled us (well Lizzie) and was like “TAKE A PICTURE! :D” and we were like THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED! SWELL!
Well, needless to say, he and his friend were very pretty and very nice!

This was some Lady at anime expos kid! and let me just say i am OBSESSED with him!

Apparently later on there was like a 3 year old Ponyo he was taking photos with. I'm so sad i didn't see it /forever regret

The rest of July till November 2011: CAMWHORING! yay! so nothing really substantial happened except for me working on how to take photos of myself. I got a tumblr during this time and just kind of Overdosed on it.

 November 2011- I TURNED 18! For my birthday Me and my family flew up to San Fransisco! I also had to renew my Norwegian Passport (and I'm a Norwegian Citizen again!) and so for the extended weekend we went to little tokyo and ate good food. Also i bought my first Lolita combination!

So these are pretty much the major things that happened I had SO MUCH FUN the past year, and from this point on i hope to be more active on my blog... So there wont have to be any more master posts...

Right now I'm just really busy with school and stuff and tennis so hopefully during this time Ill just blog more... BUT IM GETTING SO TAN! HATE!
